Hi! I’m Aline Lickel, a visual designer based in Amsterdam. Every morning I start my day listening to good music and researching design references, online or at the real world. Here you can see what fascinates me. If you like it, drop me a line. I would love to hear from you. Enjoy! +

Le Lapin

Hema is a big department store chain you can easily find everywhere in the Netherlands. Since 1983, they’ve been hosting an annual competition for Belgian and Dutch students from the universities of applied sciences and art academies.

Some award winning designs can still be bought at Hema, such as this lovely Le Lapin kettle, created in 1989 by Nikolaï Carels. I couldn’t resist and bought one! I like the fact that the kettle cover opens to both sides and you can use the same hand to hold the kettle and open it.

For 2012, the time to apply to the Hema Design Competition is over, but if you’re interested, be aware next year.

Designed by Nikolaï Carels.
